Consequences of 2021 June 23rd–24th storm

This year’s Saint Jonas Day was special in a certain way because of numerous heavy rains, strong wind and even hail in some locations. 
On June 23rd evening the storm mostly affected the Middle and Southern part of Lithuania: Prienai, Alytus, Marijampolė, Kaunas, Ukmergė.
On June 24th the storm outburst in Northeast Lithuania: Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Vilnius, Utena and Ignalina.
Due to lightning and trees, which had fallen on electric power lines, there were several serious disturbances of power supplies (about 18000 consumers has suffered from it).
Also, from June 19th to June 24th the temperature exceeded 30°C, so there was registered natural meteorological phenomenon – the heatwave. 

Electric power disruptions:
  • During June 23rd – 25th, the supply of electricity did not work properly in 295 units. 
  • In most objects, the supply of power was ensured by continuous power supplies and automatic generators. Mobile generators were transported to 6 units.
